Pipestone Slush Report

Recommended Posts

The conditions on Pipestone are very improved from trhe other day. The main trail is packed and froze up pretty good. I put a balsam bough trail up the lake so no need to worry about traveling up the lake. Slush will be scattered around the lake, but always nice to know that there is a good trail up and down the lake. The trail is broke open for fishing Loonhaunt as well. We have the water on in a cabin at our main base and will be opening up trails into the closer lake trout lakes(Panorama, Dad's, Slender, and Campbell Lake). Call now to secure your dates and lake trout fishing adventure!

Lots of snow today 4" easily. We will have to see how that effects the conditions over the next few days. I am headed up to Slender and the bottom end of Pipestone fishing in the morning. I will post what the current conditions are.

It is supposed to get cold for the next few days, but we are supposed get more snow, up to 5". Went out today and slush was popping up in lots of places. Travel off a trail with sleighs is not a good idea. Main trail is froze pretty good, just need to treavel light while fishing and no problems. Slush on Off Lake is very similar.

Well, we got pounded with snow yesterday. There is at least another 10-12" from yesterday. This will not help our slush situation. Travel yesterday was hard with the heavy snowfall. I am sure there is alot of new slush out there today. I will post what it is like after I make a venture out today.

The conditions are not the best, but I am going to head up the lakes tommorrow or the next day to repack the trail and do a little fishing. If you stay on the packed trail while towning there are no problemss, then travel light for fishing. Let me know if you need anymore reports, most locals are staying in and not going out checking conditions.

The group coming out of Pipestone today reported that the main trail was still froze good and not much slush on the trail. If you get of the trail, you will run into slush. Fishing was good in Schistose. Travel for fishing without sleighs was not to bad running light. The trail is repacked and temps are cold so the trail will stay good. I am headed up in a day or two to check conditions and freight supplies in to the cabin.

I went up Pipestone today and widened the trail and put more boughs on it so it is easier to follow. The trail was froze very good for towing sleighs. Ventured off the trail a few times and it wasn't to bad. The snow is deep on the lake and there is slush scattered around, but didn't have any problems.

Pipestone slush conditions are improving. The main trail up the lake is in very good shape and froze solid. The group fishing traveled around the lake relatively easy. Some sposts still had lots of slush like all the lakes in the Emo - Nestor Falls area. If anyone needs an up to date report, let me know as I am out on the lakes almost daily.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
