Auger Repair

I'm new to to forums, and finding some helpful information so I thought I would see if anyone had an opinion on a good small engine/auger repair shop. I'm looking for a place in the south metro, and my auger is a Strikemaster XL 3000 (3 hp, 10"). The auger runs, but seems starved for gas. It takes a lot of primering to get it started, doesn't want to idle very long, and is sputtering a lot under a load. I've changed the plug and put in some new gas, but it didn't make much of a difference. I'm assuming the carb needs to be adjusted, and maybe rebuilt, but I don't have a good place to work on it at the moment. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

D Rock in New Brighton specializes in fixing the ice augers and does a nice job. I would suspect they would have all the parts on hand as well.

I know it is not the South Metro but it may be worth the trip or give them a call.

In south metro I've had good luck with Rosemount Saw & Tool. They fixed the recoil on my Strikemaster earlier in Dec. and have worked on my chain saws in the past.

Not sure if under the same ownership, but these guys were top notch and specialized in augers - fact I bought my SM Mag III here in 1988 - used - best deal ever - $100 - and still using today - give em a call if you're in the area -

Maybe call Strikemaster in Big Lake and see what they say.

Strikmaster in Big Lake is a good bet. I've had really good luck and service at D-rock in New Brighton as well. You can't go wrong dealing with either place, just depends on what is closer for you.

Thanks so much for all the info! I am in Eagan, so I'll have to drive a bit to get to those places, but good work is more important than a little driving. Hopefully I won't have to make the trip too often anyway!
