I have not been out to Kewaunee or Algoma since the summer of 2001. During that year our fishing lines would collect this slimy substance that, I believe, was refered to as " Spiny Water Flea. This would require cleaning your lines every 30 minutes or less or you would have a major mess. My question is, does this problem exist this year? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Eastwind, I've not seen fleas this year, or last year either for that matter. Two years ago, different story. I'm not sure why they would be present one year and not the next. When present, I put a small splitshot on the line in front of my dipsys, dodgers, and spoons. This helps a little but not completely. Bringing lines in you can collect a quite a few of them, and talk about a b#^&$h to get off, darn things are tough to get off the line! Good Luck in Aug. can it be luck?

As of last week there has been a lot of spiny water fleas in the Kewaunee,Sheboygan, and Algoma area. I'm sure they're other places also but I can't speak on that for sure. They build up on your line and baits fouling them up. Check lines often. I strategicly put a small split shot several places to try and prevent all of them from fouling my set-ups, but you can't get them all.
