Big Round/ Polk Co.

Recommended Posts

Fished Big Round on Tues. Spawn appears to be done. Males were on the beds. Caught a few but wanted to get some bigger fish so we fished a little deeper, hoping to get some females--no luck. Panfish were thick and everywhere. Caught a few on a flyrod for kicks and giggles. Water temp was 65-70 by the end of the day.

Anyone having any luck on Big Round catching eyes lately? Fished all weekend and caught nothing but Bass, Sunnies and a Sunburn (Big sunnies!) Fished deep, shallow, night, day, Spinners, lindys, jigs, bobbers, leeches, crawlers. I'm blaming it on the Weather. (80 and sunny!)

SM,

I fished for a couple hours on Saturday evening on BRL and caught a 14 walleyes, a few nice sunfish and a dozen bass. Unfortunately the walleyses were all small 12-14 inchers. There rae plenty of big ones in there however.

The walleyes on BRL are very weed oreiented fish. Almost like bass. You need to fish the edge of the heavy weeds of the edge of the numerous mid lake bars.

Good luck.

The last weekend on Round was slower than the prior weekend. We did manage 3 walleyes late Saturday night including a CPR'd 29.5 inch 10lb. 2 ounce walleye.

I would not drive on BRL right now. Found 12 inches of ice in many spots but also found 7 inches in a couple spots. Panfish reports have been spotty. The samll pike were slower than normal too.

Nice FISH! Thanks for the updates. Fished better half of the afternoon and evening on Friday and 7am to 6pm Sat. in various locations. Caught a nice bass and handful of panfish of which only 4 or 5 would have been worth keeping the rest were pretty small. Caught two perch that went about 12" each. I seldom see that come out of the lake, most are about half that size. Still looking for the Walleyes. Any tips would be appreciated. Will be back at it next weekend.

Fished Monday and Tuesday evenings and ended up with 4 walleyes, and three bass. The walleyes were, 14, 14,18 & 19 inches. The bass were caught just before dark and the walleyes after 8 pm. Find a weed line with green weeds and jig shiners on glow jigs.

Thanks,

WG
