Dano_the_jigasaurus
I am not much of a mechanic, but my auger seized up on me is there anything I can do with it or is it junk? I think my buddies put regular gas in it when we were out fishin... ouch.
Dan Thiem
Take the spark plug out and see if it will roll over. If it does, then see if the piston goes up and down. If it dont' bummer!
Bob_D
Define "seized". Do you mean you can't turn it over with the pull cord, or you were running it and the motor locked?
Dano_the_jigasaurus
The motor locked while it was running and the pull chord won't turn it over now.The pull chord won't come out at all.If the piston is wrecked can it be rebored or is it a total loss? D. Stadler
Try pouring kerosene into the sparkplug hole and let it sit for a few days. I loosened up a lawn mower engine that way once. Good luck.
iffwalleyes
it sounds like it is shot. You can probably get it rebored but that might be pretty costly. The other option is a new short block still a expensive option but cheaper than new. If you can get the motor loosed up take off the air clean/exaust and this should allow you to look it the cylinder. The cylinder walls and piston are most likely going to be scored which basically will mean it is shot. If you wanted a excuse for a new auger this is probably it.------------------Grip it and Rip itIFFWalleyesI Fish For Walleyesiffwalleyes at yahoo.com[This message has been edited by iffwalleyes (edited 10-12-2004).]
