My son's 1st MN Black Bear

My son Calvin took his 1st MN black bear on the opening day 9-1-08. It was a nice young boer with a thick solid coat weighing around 200 lbs. A very happy young man!

Here was a nice boer that we had coming in on the same bait, but only at night.

It is hard to estimate on these bears, but I would guess the older boer would weigh in over 300 as he stands. He has not put on much fat yet, so should finish out over 400 before he hibernates.
