Refurbished?

This topic may of been dealt with before but.....I have a friend who would like to upgrade to a SLR. He has been looking at manufacture refurbished units. I've no idea what the skinny is so told him I would post here to see what opinions I can find.

Manufacturer's refurb DSLRs are usually fine. Problems can develop depending on where/from whom you buy them.

If you're dealing online, run the vendor through the resellerratings Web site to get the skinny on them. If the price seems too good to be true, it is, and run like the wind in the other direction!

Used and refurbished is fairly common in the photo equipment world, just use caution as Steve said on who you deal with.
