Don't know for sure but have fished out of my buddy's 1880 quite a bit. 7 footers fit in there fine but I don't think you'd get an 8 footer in there. A guess is that you could get a 7.5 footer in there if you didn't have too many rods. We had about a dozen rods in there and it gets tight, especially up by the rod tips. Rod socks are pretty much a must-have if you want to put that many rods in there.
