Any Ideas to use Rattle Reels with rods?

Any of you guys have any ideas that would work to use a rod with a rattle reel. I like to be awaken when I have a bite but I don't like fighting fish hand over hand. I know someone has come up with something.

You would have to wrap some line off of a fishing pole around the rattle reel. Then when the wheel spun you would have to unwrap it and set the hook. You could attach a rod holder close to the rattle reel. This would be some work and take some time to do. You may be stuck with the old fashion hand over fist method that our grandparents used.

you can buy bells that clip to the end of a fishing pole so you don't need a rattle reel

Or do what I do and by a levelwind reel with a clicker. Put it in freespool, turn on the clicker, put it in a rodholder. It's loud enough to wake you.
