Going to have a smelt fry this weekend and I've done it before but I just woud like to know how everyone else does it and what you guys use. Thanks for the input.

where do you get your smelt? from the way those things smell...i'm not sure I could bring myself to eat one

I make a beer batter using shore lunch. I also use frying magic for a dry coating before dipping the smelt in the beer batter.
