I have something eating my tomato plants....

It is leaving just the stalks so it looks like a 8-10 inch stick is left. Is this some kind of worm (cut worm) or is it a rabbit getting inside my fence?

Not cutworms.....they eat through the stalk at ground level not the leaves.

I've had deer problems with tomatoes. They eat from the top down. If its a tall plant eaten all the way from top to bottom its probably deer.

I've had bunny problems a few times over the years that looked similar to what you described. Put up my chicken wire fence making sure it was fastened down so they couldn't crawl under and no more problem.

It could be birds? I have had them chew at some small tree seedlings before.

After a few fence repairs they seem to be doing better, I think it was little bunnies

Lotsa bunny pressure out there this year. My sugar snap peas and string beans were also brutalized. Good to hear you've figured them out.
