Minn Kota power drive stuck on high

Hey guys,

I have a Minn kota power drive 80lbs. that is stuck on high speed. I took the foot pedal and tried it on a buddys boat and it worked fine. the motor also sticks in the on position. any thoughts? or has any one had this problem?

Hey Reeldeal,

Sorry to burst your bubble, but likely your variable resistor is toast. The resistor is in the metal housing of the motor. You need to take the whole dang thing apart to get to it and replace it. Don't do it yourself. Take it to fishelectronics.

I agree take it to fishelectronics they worked on my auto piolet and were reasonably priced and did a fast turn around

This happened to me twice with two different motors. It was the board both times. Fishlectronics would be a great place to bring your motor, or the motor clinic.

Same problem here last year, called Minn Kota they sold me the replacement board, 15 minutes and I was back in working order. Easy to replace if you have a little mechanical ability.

Thanks for the posts. Mark at Motor clinic hooked me up with a control board. located under the battery test light. $68 bucks. I installed in about 2o min. pretty much plug and play.
