Yes we did Sandmannds, Grant and Myself made it about 5 this morning down a blackdog. Slow day we quite a few bites in our fist spot managed 2 out of their Grants 18-19" and I got a little 12-13". The river came up about 4-5' from the last time I was about so my spot was pretty much under water but we made due for a while. We made a move to more open ground under the bridge. Shane picked up a nice 19-20" channel. Shortly after the left at 11 I pcked up a nice 26"x14" channles on a 4" piece of cut sucker. Rivers moving very fast and the water cooling down a bit made for a slow day but me had fun and thats all that matters. All in all a good month of april. Ended up with a total of 97" for the kotc08 for channles not a bad start but will have to upgrade for sure. Now I just have to get my pics developed and posted for the kotc08. Looking forward to very good May if it ever warms up. We will have to try to make it out this week or weekend. Let me know. I thought 9.99 was a pretty good deal IDK.

I made it down there this afternoon for a while. I was using crawlers because I just wanted to catch fish and was hoping for a carp. The 1-2-3 year class channels are thicker than the sheephead! I don't know if they have unusually high numbers for those years or if it has always been like that. I wish now that I would have brought some cut sucker after hearing your report. I was just happy that the action was fast. I was a little concerned with the cooler weather that they had shut down. After a year or so of hitting it hard down there, I am finally realizing where to go down there. I have hit the bridge pretty hard too and had some success. Caught a small flat there last year. I haven't fished it into the dark though, well, because I have usually been alone. I just wish the wood had not washed away, but there is a deep hole on the upstream side with a sandy flat on the otherside of the bridge and a riprap in front of the hole. Of course there are tons of rocks directly under the bridge stabilizing the footings.

We'll have to hit it together soon.

You crazy guys grin.gif.

Both Shane and Grant are my list to go fishing with. Maybe we can all hit it up one night down that way, in the next month or so.

I think Shane is gett'ing the cat bug.

Good to hear you guys got on some fish.

Thanks Ace for the head’s up on the PP, but I have bought all my PP for the season at full sticker. crazy.gif

How about May 23fridaynight or 24 sat. night. As far as spots go I'm open to any ideas Blackdog can be very good but with the river this high it's going to have to go down before we can have a decent spot to fish with some room. Any other ideas or places?

P.S if we have a couple of boats we can aways load up and find a nice sandbar somewhere to IDK

I am game for any where and those dates sound like a plan to me.

The only thing I would say about boats and sand bars is, it will be awhile before we have any sand bars exposed and down that way it is more like mud bars grin.gif.

I stopped on what looked like sand last year, only to loose a pair of shoes to the mud gods.

I try to stay in my boat as much as possible. I don't like the river mud on me or my gear. I will be flushing my motor out more often this year too after hearing about how fast it built up in someone elses motor. I got out on shore to take a leak one time and sunk to my waist. Thankfully after everyone was done laughing they threw me the paddle to use as something to help me get out.

I check the clearance between the impeller and liner often. So far it is still looking good. I have the stainless impeller so the wear ring will go first. Good thing too it is a lot cheaper. Even when I do need a new impeller it will be cheaper than a new prop every other year to every year. I am going to get a spare impeller for the water pump. I'm sure the sand eats up that rubber in a hurry!

Ed,

Same thing for me, only different area. What happened to me was just down stream of Black Dog. The bad part was it was not me that had to potty. As a good capt. I am (good lord), it was my boat and I jumped off with the rope first. I sank up to my you know what’s in clay and lost my shoes. I guess you gott'a learn some time.

As many times as I have been down to the river, a potty stop has not been on the list before and it is the pottier who is going first. Another cardinal rule of the river grin.gif.
