gunflint
The tilt and trim unit on our 96 Evinrude is leaking fluid. It's a small amount that ends up on the inside of the transom in the up position. I'm guessing seals. Is this a major project? Can the repairs be made with the unit mounted or do I need to take the unit off? Thanks.
boatfixer
If it is ending up inside the transom, then I'm thinking that it is not T n T fluid. The entire system is located between the transom brackets outside the transom. It would have to some how get up over the transom, seems unlikely. What color is it? I'm thinking its 2 cycle oil. gunflint
It's the color of tranny fluid.

Shack
I just O/H’ed (to a degree) my CMC PT-130 tilt actuator this week. One of the fluids I was allowed to put back in was tranny fluid. I went with 30W non-detergent oil though. It went pretty easy and with the tech support from CMC over the phone and Via e-mail, CMC was able to get me what I needed for the job (literature wise). I had to come up with my own parts and seals, as they only sell rebuilt or new actuators, but it worked out great in the end and I saved lots of money.I know it is not what you have, but I had to remove the inner pump/actuator to perform the task.Good luck!
