D.Boedigheimer
My vote is for the beretta silver mallard, light, short, easy to change chokes, altough I never do, and rarely jams. Only jams when I've been hunting for several days straight and haven't cleaned it.
CrappieKiller01
I my self have a super x3, beretta extrema, and also super black eagle2. Should also state a browning gold ten guage. both have their perks about them. Super black eagle to me comes up just perfect with the raised rib barrel, for them quick shots. One bad that i have had does not like mud much(jammed up last spring snow goose hunting and couldnt get my 8 rounds off all the time). Had gunsmith find stronger spring for $7 and now never had anything get in its way. Beretta just got back from beretta. Shiot some bad remington trap loads and blew barrel up. Remington paid for it all. took one year to get a barrel and gun back form beretta and very poor customer service. Never had a jam yet on it. lil heavier but not as bad as the ten guage. super x3 i would also say is even with the beretta but may say cheaper way of building a gun. The gold i have yet to jam. buddy of mine actually hit the chamber to close once and broke his finger. very strong built gun. dont recomend for out of the blind though. Alot heavier and not as quick to swing with. All three 12 guages work very weel for for trap shooting and an average of 22-24 every time no matter what gun. to me its just what fits you. close your eyes put the gun to your shoulder and act as if your looking down the barrel. now open your eyes are you automatically lined up. thats how i choose the best one for me
CrappieKiller01
Would also like to state there is no need for the 3. 5 inch gun. most of my patterns are staying more consistant with 3 inch loads. Its just nice to have the 3.5 for late season divers or late season geese. lil more power and lil more bb.
Rainman
Just save yourself some time and a heartache and get yourself an Berretta Extrema II. You won't be sorry. All the rest of em Are single shot semi autos. I have seen to many people try all the other guns and finally get a Extrema And told me they wished they would have just listend and got one to begin with. SJU70
Has anyone had any experience with the Franchi 912? Its their 3.5 inch version that was discontinued after it competed too much with the XTrema and SBE. Also, for bigger guys, what seems to work best? I have an 870 that I can't hit anything with, I always thought that it was me until i started messing around with other guns (an old Beretta 686 o/u and a Browning Gold) and started to break a lot more clays on the range. I liked the browning except that it seemed to have a real heavy trigger pull.
berfish
Its funny reading these posts. I have been snooping around on all sorts of different websites because I am also interested in the opinions of 3.5 inch Semi-auto. It does seem to be a ford\chevy deal. I have two friends that have extremas....one loves his and I have never seen it fail....and the other couldn't get his to cycle a certain brand 3.5 shell. He got the SBE2 and loves it. I ended up liking how the SBE2 felt when I shouldered it. It also fit in my hands better. You kind of have to weigh the options of the gun and the price. What do you want to spend? $300 or $1600? Most likely somewhere inbetween. How much will you be using it? YOu will most likely have it forever so....I spent the big bucks. Good luck. tealitup
CrappieKiller, how did trap loads have enough pressure for a barrel to blow up? Have a picture of the barrel?
riversmallmouth35
I too have been looking for a 3.5 in. semi-auto for a while and finally decided on the X2. I loved the feel of the gun and it shouldered perfect for me. I took it out trapshooting and except for it wouldn't fire all the estates it worked great with the remingtons. I can't wait to try it for ducks and geese.
CrappieKiller01
trap loads have plenty of pressure trust me. i do have some of the pictures on my one cell phone yet i will try to send them to the computer later tonight. only thing that saved me was the rib on the barrel. had 4 pieces of metal particles in my safety glasses and also nasty scar on my forhead. will try to load the pictures i remember last year i could not load them on here for ppl to view. any tips on how to do this
