lucy1205
high dudes, I have many standard popcan muskie reels that work great I just happen to have an extra muskie rod layin around and want to try somethin different. I use to see low profile muskie reels around but hardly see them anymore. I even read an article that said they they were junk. Anyway I just wanted one that would cast mid and descent sized baits well. Also I troll a lot but don't have to use this reel for that. Do you muskie folks have any kind advise? Thanks. Musky_Madness
A popular/good option is the Shimano Curado 300 DSV. It is a bigger version of the Curado and built like a tank!
PDXFisher
Just got my second Curado 300DSV today. I like 'em!

lucy1205
Any thing worthy in the cheaper ranges
cjac
Quite honestly, not really. It's still a growing reel market segment, and many will attest to past failures with shoeboxes of broken low-pro reels that simply didn't hold up. Most of us wouldn't be looking at $250 Curado 300s if there was a less expensive alternative.
MuskyBug85
Abu Garcia Revo inshore might be slightly cheaper, but not too sure. Otherwise try hsolist for a cheaper Shimano 300 DSV. You could also try a normal low pro with high line pick up rate along with the high gear ratio, just make sure that it has a good warranty. Tim_Anderson
I'll be trying a Revo this summer. It'll be a combo heavy slop/ bass outfit, and a light duty musky outfit. With some 50# braid and a decent rod, it should be fine. Should also double well as a client outfit for those wanting something smaller and lighter. Will try to remember to report on it later. Besides if I had my own boat... the number could have been different... and now I have my own boat... lure to catch ratio should change very shortly (I HOPE)... Now with reels... if I bought them up like I did with DCGs, a majority of them would basically sit there unused, taking up spaces... definitely dont need that LOL
HugoBox
Larry - I bet if the reels came in pink you'd buy a few more!!-erik
