This is a poor picture but can someone tell me what it is?

So What kind of Duck is this? I saw about 10-15 mixed in with about 60 other ducks. I know this picture sucks it was highly cropped and shot with a poor lense.

It's a male hooded merganser. They don't nest in your neck of the woods but a few do move through the Red River Valley during migration. Much more common where we are.

They are unique little buggers.
