Pre-storm Suckas (3 pics)

Recommended Posts

Blasted out a few hours before sunrise to beat the storm this morning and was rewarded with about a bite every 10 minutes. Missed some, but hooked up on 6 golden redhorse, 2 white sucker, and 1 shorthead redhorse. I had another white sucker drop off while I was hoisting it up to my hand.

½ crawler on the bottom. 1oz no roll sinker (water is high and movin). 10” leader to a #6 Gamu Octopus hook. 7-8’ light action rod with no slack in your line. Watch that tip like a hawk. 20# Power Pro. Easy Breezy.

White Sucka

16" Golden Redhorse (4th or 5th Master Angler Golden this year already)

The sucker run hasn’t really started yet (and this weather is not helping much), but there are several resident fish right within Rochester city limits.

Enjoy.

I have seen from your posts that you must try to fish for carp and suckers at night. I myself have never tried at night, in fact during the day it seemed the rod tips started twitching when the sun was out, but by the looks of your posts... It looks like it would be worth it confused.gif
