Multiple Mounts for GPS/FishFinder

Greetings folks,

I've skimmed these forums for a while now so I figured I better make a post regarding a question I have with GPS/Fish finder electronics etc. I own a boat that requires me to stear from the stern of the boat. I am in the market for purchasing a new GPS/Fish Finder. I do much of my fishing from the front of the boat so I would like to have 2 separate mounting brackets (front and back of boat) so that I could utilize the one unit instead of purchasing two. I'd like to know if anyone has experience doing this and if so, what supplies do you recommend purchasing (additional wiring etc.) Thanks ya'll.

Welcome to Fishing Minnesota.

I do something similar in my boat, I move a gps/sonar combo unit between my bow and my kicker, depending on how I'm fishing.

I have the unit on a RAM mount. Very simple to move, very versatile in each location.

At each location you'll need a mounted RAM ball, plus the wires for power, transducer, and network or gps if you have that. So basically you'd need to have the unit and the RAM mount and that would take care of 1 location, and you'd need to purchase an additional RAM ball, additional power cable, and additional transducer for the other location.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Let me start off by saying I am a lowrance user, but hummingbird has the quick disconnect option on some of there units, you may be able to buy 2 bases and sets of wires and then the unit just plugs-in and unplugs from the bases. Like I said I don't have one of these units so I may be way off here. I am sure someone will straigten me out.

Yeah, Hummingbird has a pretty neat setup. I saw them at the Sportshow.

You just install an extra base which allows you to just pop the unit in and fish. All connections are done right in the base. No twisting cable connections together at all.

If you're looking to buy new, it would be worth a look.
