Bemidjifisher
I have a hand full of DCGs and now see there is a Lucky 13 out.. Double #13 blades... might need a high speed winch to pull these bad boys. I can't wait to try them.
Rebel9921
Bret... gotta love the service by Abu Garcia... I did try palming the 7000 and have no problem... but I have a mild case of Carpal Tunnel... I worry about how that reel will affect my CT... Important thing is that I'll bring one rod/reel with 6600 on it just in case... and all the new rods has handles thats 15 inch or longer... so that definitely will help BIG time... especially with KT Pro Edge and the THICK syncork handle...Bemidji... Mayhem came out with Super Cowgirl which has #13 blades... I heard that Llungen might change from 12 to 13... I cant remember exactly what happened but something about a mistake in blade stamping... cant remember... I cld be wrong...as for #13 blades... word out there is that they dont pull any harder than DB10's... I'll have to wait on that til I hit open water and try out the Super DCGs myself... muskiedreams
The #13 do pull harder than the 10s I used the 13s last year and they do pull harder!! I think I will only use them at night to slow roll to hard to fish all day.
Rebel9921
Luke... would it be any different if one used a 7000 while reeling the Super DCGs???
MUSKY18
Reb......was just going through and putting my lures into tackle boxes. Forgot that I had purchased a Pink/Pink DCG. Kids think it is "pretty", but I know you are a lover of Pink lures, so what are my odds it lands me a dandy on the big pond?????
muskiedreams
Larry.. I have not used one of these 7000 dont make a lefty yet I dont think. I use calcutta 401te and lunas and it was pretty tough.
Rebel9921
Bret... when you're on the big pond... WORSHIP that pink/pink DCG!!! Like I said... I wouldnt be caught without a pink/pink in my tackle box regardless if its big pond or not... I have two right now... and probably will get more soon... From my memory... When I fished with Luke... he had like 6 or 7 sitting on the counter of the RV... and he had one in the boat... thats a commandment!!! LOL Speaking of commandment, maybe I should type up a new posting... with 10 commandments... Luke... I know you reel with your left hand... I was just asking for your opinion if 7000 would be any easier... I'd be shocked if you bought an Abu Garcia... knowing you love Shimano and Diawa... muskiedreams
Buy what I have heard they should be pretty good. All of my right handed buddys cast lunas and calcuttas. I think if you are trowing luna,calcutta,7000, you will be able to tell the 13s pull harder then the 10s just like the 10s pull harder then the 8s. By the way we should do the mille thing again!!!! Rebel9921
Luke... yeah thats what I was thinking... but like I said... I have to TRY it for myself...As for the Mille thing... Im always game for it... Just waiting for you to invite me and I'll GO!!!
trimbelle22
a st croix rep at the sports show was telling me about a good way to reduce the stress on your reels while throwing DC10's. He said when you get tired, you point the rod tip towards the bait while you are reeling and then the gears in the reel are doing all the work. if you keep your rod at an angle, it takes some of the stress off the reel and lets the rod do some of the work and makes it easier to set the hook on a strike.this has probably been said before and many of you are probably already aware of it, but it was the first time i had heard it and it made good sense to me...just something to think about i guess

Try that with the wrong rod, and you will burn yourself out much faster. You'll be working harder to hold that rod tip down while the bait tries to pull it up. Any rod that will work in that situation is, IMO, too heavy and too stiff for bucktail fishing.Personally I would just get a reel that can handle the abuse (plenty of them out there), a rod that you are comfortable casting and fighting fish with, and keep that rod pointed right at the bait during the retrieve. That's how I do it, and I have no problems with being out of position for hookset, figure 8, or anything else.
