jigginjerk
My son and I will be out there that weekend or the next also. Been going there at that time for the last 5 years or so. Email me at davlorinc at yahoo dot you know what and I can point you in a few helpful directions. You will have a blast. Wallys, smallies on Sharpe and salmon above the dam on Oahe. I don't live to far from you it looks, I live north of Big Lake.
jigginjerk
Just to add you have to be carefull on that river by Pierre because of that water level fluctuation. Lots of sand bars to get hung up on. The water level can change from am to afternoon.

jigginjerk
Fished west bend yesterday and today. Yesterday boated about 30 wallys, kept limit 15 1/2 to 19 inch fish. Today caught 45 fish and kept limit 16 to 19 inch fish. Both days fished from about 8-1 o'clock and had a dozen smallies 16 to 18 inch mixed in. What fun!!! Going after salmon up top sat. and sun. morning. Weather has been unreal, little or no wind so far and in the 60's. Not very often out here the wind does'nt blow two days in a row this time of year. Hopeing for good weather next two days. Good Fishing!!!!

jigginjerk
Ya!! My buddy just called and he said the wind started blowing hard yesterday mid morning and was whipping at about 40 mph today yet. Just shows you how lucky a guy is when you get a calm day or two once in a while.

Gordie
jigginjerk we think we saw you on friday on way towards the brigdes. we caught around 40 -50 eyes a day and wow did the wind blow on at and sunday made it tough but a lot fo trolling in we also got 20 crappies that were pretty tasty sunday night for our fish fry. with the wind pullin cranks was our only option and we did quite well. cant wait to get back there again sometime when the winds and gas are so high! jigginjerk
There wasn't much happening at the dam because there is no thermocline yet. so they are just wandering about. So we when up to chantier bay and did ok. we fished about 2 1/2 hours, missed 3 and caught 3 about 8-9 lbs. At the dam we downrigged and at chantier we long lined with deep plugs. Light colored plugs seemed to work best. I would stop by Carls bait and talk to that guy, he's very willing to help out. He knows the area very well and can point you in the right direction. Good Luck!!!
jigginjerk
elwood, sorry we didn't hook up. Where did you hook into the crappies? Hipple? Next time out would like to give that a shot. Going to try to plan a trip in july to maybe tie into some bigger salmon. And some walleyes too.
Gordie
jigginjerk we talked with some locals that were fishing right in the marina by the puplic access and we fished the docks in the marina. no boats were tied up yet and then on the north end of the river channel in the timber just up from the access. its the access by the tennis courts and the camping area.I am trying to plan a cast and blast fall trip myself but not sure if it will work. but walleyes and pheasants sound really tasty for dinner!!Have a good one
