AaronM
If I wanted to replace the snaps on a leader with an o ring, how would I go about doing that? I really don't need too many leaders and aren't really interested in making my own, so is there a way to do this on pre-made leaders? Thanks much for any help! delmuts
i would take a good look at the snap on the leader. many of them can be undone and just slid off and replaced.the only other option,(with out cutting and redoing the crimp!) would be to use a split ring, but as Jonny P pointed out. you have to risk the split section resting on the flouro, and wearing though. del
b1gf1sh1
an o-ring is a solid circle wth no way to open it up, a typical leader is crimped together with no opening either. so based on that the only way you could change it is if you had crimpers and the right size sleeves. i suppose if the leader had an over sized loop and you could pass the loop through and then the rest of the leader through that pull tight that would work mabe. woul'nt look pretty. on the other hand you could change it over to a split ring. only problem there is they are typicaly about 1/4 - 1/3 the strength of a -ring and 1/2 a quality snaps strength. also to put a split ring on can rip the heck out of any coating and bend wire or cut mono/fluoro if your not carefull.
