Yamaha electric starter ??

May buy a late 80's 25, oil inj. Yamaha outboard. El. start is out, but worked last fall. Could be a fuse or something else. Worst case how much for new starter @ shop, how tough to do myself. Thanks

I have no idea on a cost to replace it. It should be a straight forward replacement - unbolt the exisiting starter and bolt in a new starter.

Did you check if the solenoid is still good ? I would use a jumper cable from in + (positive) to + out on solenoid to see if motor runs. Be careful if it runs it might start motor, just do short contact times.
