Sand Point wells

Anyone have advice on sand point wells? I live in the city limits with city water, but I want to put in a well for the garden, trees etc. Pipe size, pump size?

I think ours is down 27 feet in Andover. Go with as big of a pipe as possible.

I have one in the basement that's hooked up to the house system but I only use it for the yard. I'd guess it to be 25 feet or less deep from the floor. I have a 1/2 hp pump with a two-inch pipe and get about 7 gallons a minute. I know I probably need a new point and that would would improve my gpm, but right now it's good enough.

Shallow well pumps are designed to be most efficient at 25 or less feet.
