6" Jiffy?

riverrat56

Question

I do alot of running around out on the lakes, 100 hole days are the norm for me, and my Jiffy gets a bit heavy and slow sometimes.

I've got an 8" blade on a 2hp powerhead, I'm wondering in they make a 6" auger assembly, preferably with 2 shaver blades on it?

Jiffy's are heavy no doubt about it. Have you thought of going to a Strikemaster? If you can find one now you can get a Mag 2000 for well under $250. About 10 Lbs less than a Jiffy and different blades/augers are easy to come by.

I'm not familiar with any shaver blades by jiffy... And I'm pretty sure you cant put any other blades on it as they rotate different directions.. 6" will get though the ice a ton quicker, and will be slightly lighter. I owned a jiffy for many years.. loved that auger..

I have a nills now, very light in 8", I cant even imagine what it would do in a 6".. but would be quite a bit more moolah!

Just got a strikemaster this year myself and sold my Jiffy. Seems more than 10 lbs less, maybe it's just balanced differant. Great auger as well.

Sorry guys, but no way will I lose my Jiffy for a Strikemaster, I know they make some good augers, but I have seen a few that had tons of problems, not that there aren't bad Jiffy's as well, I just really like mine and have had no problems, well except when my throttle control broke, but 1 minnow net handle later and I was back in business.

I wasn't sure if they made shaver blades or not, but even a 6" with a chipper would really move, I think, anyone with any experience? Weight isn't that big of a concern, I'm still young and can carry it around all day.

I wish I could afford a Nils, but with a perfectly good auger now, I just can't justify it.
