I was on lake in the Aitkin area this weekend. I like to move around alot and in doing so was finding ice from 30 inches to 20 inches..... spooky to drill a hole and go thru quicker than expected. Especially when you are drivng a heavy truck.

The ice was beaten pretty good this weekend. saturated with water, etched from the wind and sun.

drivng ice is over for heavy vehicles. still alot of ice... safe for wheelers but by this time next week, it will be another story. no more large vehicle traffic. wheeler time only.
