I just purchased a Shappell s4000 ice house. i couldn't pass up the price for it but never used one. looks nice and also easy to set up. does anyone have any comments about the shappell houses.

from what i can see the shappell looks similar to and almost same size as the clam 5600. that is the only thing that is close to the shappell. correct me if i am wrong.

The Shapell is a good house for a suitecase style. They set up easy and are made well. I see a lot of guides on Devils lake using them if that means anything.

If your style of fishing doesn't involve a lot of moving, the Shappell will work OK. I had a Shappell S1000 or 2000. It was a pain to pull from spot to spot, and setting it up in a breeze was difficult. I decided to sell it and got a Fishtrap instead. The Trap doesn't have the room the Shappell had, but it better suited my needs. Like everything, just depends what your needs are.
