Tman2
Man, it's quiet. Did everybody give up? Somebody's got to be doing something.
Eastwind
I haven't been up to Morson since the weekend of Feb. 1st. It's the time of year I start thinking about golf and open water fishing now.

Wild Thing
After three fantastic trips in January and February we were humbled two weeks ago. Worst March trip I've ever had, but that was likely cause of the sub-zero weather. I cleaned more 12 inch walleyes than ever before just to feed the group! It was like fishing in Minnesota! Well, not quite that bad... Would like to make it up one more time on hard water but probably too many events at home. May try to make the Rainy River season out of Pinewood one or two days but that is always a crapshoot for mud, ice and weather... I refuse to fish in a boat in snow! Then it's turkey hunting down south MN... My gosh, it could be well into May before I fish LOTW again! How sad! Take care all!P.S. Eastwind, golf?? "Golf's an old man's game!'' (Lacey Underalls, Caddyshack) I've nevevr met a serious fisherman who also golfed. Usually it's one or the other!!! I wrapped a putter around a tree 23 years ago, walked off the course and haven't been back on the greens since! But a few more fishing trips like the last one and I may go back to golf!! dnoz
Fished this past weekend for Walleyes. Most of the nicer Walleyes we caught were caught on the reefs. Beautiful weather and lots of ice. Still plenty of snow on the lake for snowmobiles. Also caught a 43 inch Northern. Thought about keeping it for mounting but decided to take some pictures and let it go. Eastwind
W.T.,You're right! I got tired of crashing in to outfield fences, and diving in to bases on the softball field by my mid fourties. The risk of injury and time to recover was increasing. It was either play like my age or take golf lessons. I chose the latter. I discovered LOTW in '98. Fishing it and playing golf is a great way to spend your time during the warm weather. Plus my wife also enjoys both activities so there is never any flack from home about enjoying either activity. I'll be back up to LOTW May 20th thru the 24th. But I'll be teeing 'er up in about three to four weeks.Actually, I never met a serious golfer who also played softball. The fishing part fits well. Wild Thing
Yeah, shoulder surgery and herniated discs ended my softball career. It was pathetic when the second baseman would have to run out into right field to catch my outfield throw-ins! Well, now you have a golf course AT LOTW in Morson! Have you played it yet? I heard decent reports for a backwoods course. Take care all!
Eastwind
W.T.I'll likely play it the next time I'm up there for a week with my wife during the Summer. She likes a little diversion from just being in the boat all day, every day. I'm happy enough to have a wife that likes to go to a place like Morson once a year and doesn't mind if I go up as many other times as I want with friends. benelli_dude2002
Was up in Morson last weekend for a derby. They were only weighing walleyes and northern and all we caught that day was saugers. donated 60 bucks to the derby and watched other people walk away with the prizes. It was a beautiful day, 217 people registered so it was a pretty good turnout. Even got a little sunburn on my nose. Heading up on saturday for crappies and try for walleyes later in the day. Hope to post a report that night when we get back.
welfedted
Was up in Morson the 16th thru the 20th. Found nice eyes on the reefs west of Morson. Gold buuckshot rattle, minnow optional. Best bite was towards evening. Took my 2 boys and wife to Miles bay for crappies one day. The bite was awesome! Plus a 1/2 doz jumbos to boot. Snow mobiles and an auger extension are needed. Coming of the lake Tues. evening with a clear sky and a near full moon, well its hard to discribe. I'll try to get back up for the burning of the brush in Morson Bay, if not, it'll be the opener. benelli_dude2002
Just returned from a day well spent up in Miles bay. 6 of us bounced all the way up on sleds. Still dont make very good time especially out in the open. Crappie bite was great. Live bait or tubes worked well. I got 5 different species of fish from the same hole. Walleye, sauger, crappie, perch and tulibee. The tulibees were always like halfway up or better. later on we headed back towards Morson for some walleye action, and the bite was late like from 6:30pm til dark. 12-14ft on the sand. Glow jigs or buckshot rattles seemed to work good. Even got a few on a Powerbait Realistix softbait. But live minnows worked the best. We didnt see too many people out there on Miles bay maybe 10 poeple at the most and they didnt stick around very long. Right now sleds are the way to go although we did a few wheelers out there. Hope to get in one more day trip before open water. Take care
Tman2
What's 'burning of the brush'?
welfedted
The Morson fire dept. burns the old vegetation on the shoreline from behind the fire station to the church. This happens the first part of April, weather permitting.
