Cooter
Any tips for the correct way to remove a broken rod tip?
upnorth
If you are talking about the tip top guide, most are put on with a form of hot glue. Heat it up with lighter grab it with pliers(hot) or something and lift it off. Should slide right off.
harvey lee
Hey Cooter, there is another way to remove it. Yesterday while fishing on the river and landing a sauger, I broke the last 2" off the tip. Real bummer as this can be fixed but the rod surely wont have that same action.Guess I need another jigging rod.
upnorth
If the rod is worth the effort you can splice it back together.
Cooter
Its just the last guide, none of the rod blank is broken. Its a Rapala rod - will heat work if epoxy or something else was used?
upnorth
It should, most epoxy will melt just keep checking it as you go to see if it will release.
MW AL
Cooter,Just be careful not to use too much heat. Sometimes they are put on with epoxy and if you hit it with too much heat you will melt the rod blank before the epoxy lets go.AlMidwest Rod
