It doesn't look like much ice chips around the hole for 10 feet of ice.

i think they wanted the augers lenght to be a surprise when it came out of the ice, so i think when they added the last extension (it looks like you can just add sections on to the auger as you drill) they probably cleared all the chips away because if you saw a huge pile of chips 4 feet high it wouldn't be so much of a surprise. just my thought anyway.
