ATM
I have a friend who is from wisconsin, but I dont hold that against him too much, anyway he is building a house on wheels, his question is when he comes to minnesota to fish as long as he is in the house is it considered portable if he does not leave it unattended or will the dnr view it as permanent if he fishes all night long. Can a wisconsin resident purchase a minnesota permanent house license? adam
Captain B.R.K
Adam- I believe he can buy a licenses...it's called a dark house shelter license that is required for any permanent or portable shelter in MN regardless if you are resident or non-resident. This is the description from the MN-DNR HSOforum:Valid for non-resident portable fish shelters. Includes license and tag for the shelter. See Fishing Regulations - Fishing House or Dark House. It costs $34 for the season and $20 for a 7 day.Good Luck!
feverpetal
Page 53 of the regs say that : 1. Non-residents may angle from a licensed fish house.2. Non-residents may obtain a license for a fish shelter. However, the shelter cannot remain on the ice when unattended. (Good thing it'll be on wheels!)3. Non-residents may not spear fish from a dark house. 4. All shelters placed on the ice must be licensed, and include full identification of the owner. 5. Shelters used/left overnight must have 2 square inches of reflective material on each side of the house.6. Storing or leaving the shelter at/on a public access is prohibited.fp------------------"Cast riiiiight....there."
