Red Lake is usually a good bet. A lot of walleyes are being caught up there. The crappies and here and there, same with the pike, but the walleye fishing is very good...

If you are going for a week, I would spend half my time on URL, the other half on LOW. Book a few days on each lake. They are within an hour from each other.

good question viking, i have the same problem (northern mn). How bout this, I am looking for a place to rent a shack for the weekend i am looking for the best overall deal. The place i stay in doesnt have to be a 5 star deal at no means, however i would like the fishing to be good. If applicable to me the quality of the fishing is more important to me than the resort or shak. Looking for a place to see it all, crappies,eyes,pikes,perch,etc. I was suggested wigwam on lotw any body have an opinion?

If your looking for a cheap route for LOW, and dont mind driving 5 miles to get to the lake in the am. Rent a motel in Baudette, it was like $60 a night and we slept 4 people in our room. Most resorts charge about $100 per person per night.
