bassNspear
With the spearing season coming to a end, it was a year to remember. All the great times out on the lake, where it all started with our trip to Andrusia in Dec. We had great fishing up there this year, like we do every other year. The Time where I went out with Stiffy, heuy and the guys to Little Long lake, getting me meet everyone for the first time was great as well. The Get TO Gator was a day to remember, how cold it was, and yet, merkman was able cook that catfish like it was 90 out side. To be able to get people together and hand out where you can place a face on a name is what its all about.I am excited to see what next year is going to bring. With having our own spearing forum, I have to believe that its only going to get bigger and bigger as the years go on. Planning the Get TO Gators early for next year, where we are going to be able to have 2 through the year. Also, to be able to share tactics with what everyone else is doing, towards what I was doing on the lake. Its great to talk with other people to see what others are doing, where you are able to change some things to have a better chance of getting some fish. Thanks to everyone for the great year that we had together, and i cant wait for next year where we can spend more time together. ROOKSTER69
I sure like your house. I've got 4 thumbs when it comes to building from scratch. You got these plans in your head or on paper? Just curious. I've got an old handmade spear and speared years ago, but just need a house. I'd like to get back into it. Anyone know of a spear house they wanna get rid of? ROOKSTER69
Great..I'll be checking it out. I have problem finding just a spear house, don't need much, but would like a permanent one for one guy or maybe me and the MRS. COZY is fine, don't need a mansion. Gordie
well I made it out sunday for the last day of spearing and didnt see any thing but it was relaxing just to be their and wishing it was the start of first ice for next season. I got the shack off the lake and the spear checked over and put away for the season. now its time to reflect on the past season and think about the new lakes for the next seasons spearing. I think its time to start a new hobby like building spears and carving some decoys. Thanks to all the people on this forum for the input and new ideas that have sparked new ideas and inspirations that go along with this aged old tradition. Huey
I didn't see anything either. Any northerns anyways. I saw 2 huge muskies. One came flyng in. I thought it was going to crush my fake decoy. Then it stopped on a dime and just hoovered there a 1/2 incch from the decoy. How do they do that? The other one was probably over 50" and swung by the live decoy. Then came back around a few seconds later. It's interesting to see the reaction of the sucker minnow. Sometimes they swim like crazy to get away. Other times they just hang there. Maybe they are playing dead or think they need to stay still because they are trying to hide. Anyways, it's fun to watch. This was my rookie season and it was great. I definitely enjoy spearing and look forward to next year. I have to thank everyone who posted here. I figured a few things out on my own, but most of what I know came from this forum. I've actually read everything posted in this forum. I don't come from a spearing family and don't have buddies that spear so this was definitely my best source of info. Thanks guys!
bassNspear
Im glad you you have found a new sport when it comes to the hard water forum. I remember when we went to Long Lake, and you were telling me that this was the first time that you were out, and you seen some fish, and we talked about a few things! But when you came out with us to Big Lake, and we meet for lunch over at merc house, i remember how jacked up you were when i found out that you speared your first two fish. This is what this sport is all about. Getting out and learning about it, and trying it, and before you know it, you are going to be hooked. Im glad that I got to spend sometime with you this winter, and i look forward to spending more time with you and others on the hardwater.
