One finally hit a snare..

I finally got one today! This is my first year of snaring so I thought would experiment with only 6 snares set in and around a slough just north of town. It finally paid off!

Since our local fur buyer is almost done accepting fur, it looks like this may be my one and only fo this year. However, next year...look out as I am planning to step it up a notch! I am already pumped! Anyways, here are a few pics...

Next year I plan to skin the ones I catch. The critters in the back ground are the ones my buddy caught in the last week. Since he doesn't have a good place to skin them, he just drops them off at the fur buyer.

I'm sure you are fine Rost, to everyone please be carefull where you set your snares. We have a guy here that sets snares without permission, and has killed one very good hunting dog, and my cousin had his snared twice in one day while he was hunting Pheasant. If he hadn't been very close to his dog, he would have lost him too. I have no problem wih trapping or snares but a little common sense goes a long way. CJ

Rost Glad to hear you are careful with the snares. The ones set here were out very early in the hunting season. The furs wern't prime yet anyway. The guy that set them thinks it was funny when we asked him about them. He nolonger has the privelage to trap and hunt on a lot of ground after the little confrontation we had with him. He wishes he had been a little more polite with the land owners in the area. CAJ
