moose_bay_traders
I have been watching this post all season long and have been quite up until now. I sold all of my spearing items a couple of years ago and have been ice fishing only, however I have been motivated to chase mean green again. I am planning on building a 4x8 and was wondering the best place to purchase black canvas material for the house. I am in the saint michael area. Thanks for perking my intrest again. I think my son will enjoy it also-he loves to sit in the blind with me while bowhunting.
Early Riser
I would contact Canvas Craft in Anoka. The canvas they use for their houses seems to be very good. I have been spearing out of one of their 4X8s for several years now and the material is still like new. They also put together a top notch spear house that is complete. All you have to do is cut the hole in the floor.
moose_bay_traders
I had a northlander years ago and it was a great house. I sold it to purchase a pull over. Does canvas craft sell bulk canvas? How big is the hole in your house? I was thinking about getting one of there kits but was'nt sure that 4' wide would be large enough. I like to have a little dancing room for the victory fish dance and enough room for heater, coffee pot,ice rods, etc.
Early Riser
The hole I am spearing out of is almost 4 feet wide and 3 feet deep. It is almost half the floor space. I left about 10" at my feet so that my chair is on the other 4X4 section of the floor and my feet are resting right at the opening for the hole. I have speared out of the this house with another person and our two boys when they were younger. It is perfect for one person with plenty of rooom for all you mentioned. Not sure if they sell the bulk or not, but it wouldn't hurt to call.
Scott M
Moose Bay - The Rogers store is right by you if you are in St. Michael! You gotta stop by and see their product. Top notch stuff. I'm sure Bass-N-Spear will chime in, as he has a Canvas Craft house and dealt with their staff. He told me on the phone about the great work they do and his pictures only tell half the story. Actually, for anyone interested in Canvas Craft and/or Spearing, come out to the Get-2-Gator on Big Lake on Sunday and sit in his house for a while. Super warm, pitch black...his baby was meant to spear! If you buy a packaged house or just a skin, you can't go wrong with canvas craft.

moose_bay_traders
I am going down on Friday to check out there houses. I kick myself for selling that house way back when. I have been thinking about the 5x8 so I can cut a spearing hole on both sides of the house. Anyone using the 5x8 size? Should I spend the extra $40 and get the 6x8? bassNspear
I have the 6x8 Canvas Craft. The space is awesome. I would never want to go down to a smaller house. If you have 40.00 to go up. i would highly recommand it.
