Did you post your email address in full or did you break it up like a lot of people do here? If you just posted your email address, it is really easy for someone to copy/paste it into spam generators. Best thing to do, if you posted the full email, is to go back and edit it so that it isn't perfect...something like jonsmith at yahoo dot com, or jonsmith at yahoo and you know the rest, or something along those lines, and then click the remove me from your mailing list on the spam emails. Should cut down on the spam.

don't click those unsubscribe links. all it does is validate your email address to the spammer. best bet is to throw the message in the trash and delete, and hopefully your email program has a decent spam/junkmail filter.

I use two email adresses.

One for friends and family, the other for HSOforum registrations, internet forms, etc.

Virtually no spam on the friends and family address. The other is bombarded, but generally I don't care. Just delete it all every now and then.

I've had my e-mail address posted in my signature on this HSOforum for over 3 years now. The amount of spam mail I receive isn't any more or less than when I didn't have it posted here. With how visible it is, I'd expect to be getting tons of spam but that isn't the case. I even have my e-mail listed on my HSOforum and that hasn't caused an increase at all.

I can "almost" guarantee you that if you are getting spam, its not because of posting your e-mail here.

In the past when I have sold stuff on FM I've been hit by spammers from other web forums telling me to go check out their forums. It's a joke, annoying, and those people should really get a life. You check your email for what looks like someone interested in the item you have for sale and instead it's some low life trying to benefit himself by directing you to his site. I would NEVER visit or become a regular at someplace that uses tactics like that. I'm sure many of you have had similar experiences.

Hello, I am using this medium to contact you on behalf of client to purchase this item .Would you please email me with the final asking price of the item for immediate purchase?

1. Do you accept a ( Cashier Check ) as a mode of payment?

2. What is the final asking prize you can go at last?

3 Will you let our shipping company to come to your house for the pick up of the item, cos we don't want you to worry yourself about the shipping of the item,

4.what is the present condition of the item, get back to me now in order to know the condition.

5,will send excess fund the same day you received the payment to the shipping company name and address.

6. You are to send your NAME,ADDRESS,TEL # CITY,CODE,STATE.to mail out the payment to you okay.

Maybe should have called it scam rather than spam.

This is just one of several emails that I have recieved to the add. My wife brought them to her IT guy at work and said it they are a scam.

I've gotten similar emails when I've posted stuff for sale on hsolist. As hanson has stated, I haven't gotten any spam and my email has been posted in my signature on this site as well.
