Guest
Can anyone tell me a good ice fishing spot and/or guide service around Minnesota? I am looking to plan a trip sometime and I've never been ice fishing before so I would like some information if anyone has any.
fiskyknut
Lake of the Woods is a very good lake for winter fishing. Lots of resorts with alot of different packaged plans, day angling houses and sleeperhouse rentals, ect. Ice season up here kicks off earlier than most other lakes in the state and the ice stays later. Check the resort locator page off the home page to get an idea of options and package prices.Regards....Fisky
we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted June 26, 2003 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted June 26, 2003 Check the Mille Lacs Resorts and Judd's on Winnibigoshish. They are also pretty good in their own rights for a first timer to hook up with a guide. Also check with Walleyedan in the Brainerd Forum he can help you out also.Just click the "Forums Home Page" link on the upper left here. Then you will see the "Resort Locator" link at the Top. The Brainerd Forum will be in the Regional Forums below it a bit.
Guest
I can recommend Carlson's Ice Fishing up at Angle Inlet (on the NW Angle.) We have fished there with Robert Carlson and this last December, he put us on so many fish we were all blown away. It's a long drive but if you want a real experience, it's a lock. He will transport you to and from the fishouse and provide minnows as well. He knows the area like the back of his hand. There's also some great, inexpensive lodging up there too.....T
Gissert
Ditto what T-Bone said. I've fished with RC Carlson's operation about a dozen times since 1996, and have never been disappointed. Based on the size and number of walleyes we caught last December, I am counting the days until ice.

Dano2
HEY, and if your in the mood for some awesome crappie fishing, just go to the Upper red lake part of this forum, and get ahold of Kelly P.I made it up there a couple times last winter and will definetly be going back.I didn't get ahold of kelly until the end of the season when the ice wasn't in very good shape so I couldn't hook up with him, but I hear hes DA MAN. WallEYES
COLDWATERCATCHER I will agree with GISSERT/T-BONE on the northwest angle. If you need a guide I personally will take you up there myself if it is ok the other guys and room availability. If your into walleyes, we were on a 100+ walleye days up there. We usually go the middle of December. No guide fees, just take care of your share of food, bait, lodging, and gas.
