How would I submit a stocking request?

The lake our cabin is on (Pelican - Ashby) had a partial summer Crappie kill last August. I know there were enough fish floating to make a significant dent in the population, so I was thinking of asking the Glenwood - DNR Fisheries & our lake Association about re-stocking Crappies. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed with this? Has anyone ever been through a similar experience? We have our annual Association meeting in May. I was thinking of asking if other lake owners would be willing to kick in some cash to help subsidize the project if the DNR approves. We need the Crappies back. They are just as important as the Walleye in my opinion.

A little FYI, take it or leave it.

Assuming your lake has a public access and you had a bunch of vocal people or a lake association, then you could bring the idea forth to Mr. Dean Beck in Glenwood's office.

However, 2 things to consider.

1) Panfish stocking is generally only done in kid's fishing ponds in the cities, even if the association foots the bill

and

2) A little bit of summerkill may actually help your crappie population. Think of less competition and faster growth.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
