Mark1:17
I just moved to the Lake Waconia area and want to try crappie fishing on Waconia this weekend in my portable. How has the bite been going on Waconia? Any tips on what location and depth to try?
TNFL
Try a deep hole or the main lake basin.

Kyle Sandberg
Mark, you may also get some more hits if you post it in the regoinal forums. I don't know which one that would go in but good luck when you head out.
Mark1:17
How deep of water were the crappies in by Kegs Reef? I tried the 25' hole in Wageners Bay today but didn't have any luck. Are you finding them in the deeper water near Kegs?
Big Dave2
There were crappies out in that deep hole in wagners as of last weekend but all the ones I caught were small except a couple. If you were fishing them during the day, that may be as much of a problem as location. The Crappie bite on Waconia is mostly a low light period thing. Usually how it goes is small perch bite all day with some sunnies mixed in, then larger sunnies start to bite a little before sundown, then the Crappies move in and you can catch both crappies and sunnies for a while then usually after it gets good and dark, the sunnies leave and most everything after that are crappies.
