rustic camping

IT looks like you're asking for rustic camping so that does make it a bit more complicated. I can think of many lakeside campsites that work well for this, except they are in larger campgrounds that do allow cars and rv's. Its all about what you're willing to deal with.

Many of the state parks have hike-in sites that are more rustic, but as a whole most places cater to car campers more now.

Guess location doesn't matter much to me i dont mind a little drive to a weekend away but the quicker i can get there from Madelia Mn all the better.

Would prefer secluded compsites but dont mind the drive ups if they don't look like a parking lot and are halfway private

Two Rivers is a nice State Forest campground just north of Park Rapids. It has campsites right on the lake. I can't guarantee that the fishing is good but it's available.

There's a city campground in Akeley (between Park Rapids and Walker) on 11th Crow Wing lake with sites on the lake.

Savanna Portage state park north of McGregor has sites on a lake.
