Summer waves in winter storage

When looking at this scene, I was struck by how much these look like waves of water, not snow. These are snow-covered hummocks in a bog.

Ken, it's amazing. What one doesn't see, another does. Good perspective. It looks a lot more like sand waves than water waves.

Hummocks are in the dictionary, XT.

Sorry, Southern Boy, couldn't resist. They are the raised mounds of earth and vegetation sprinkled throughout many types of northern boreal forest bogs. You can walk across these bogs IF and only IF you can keep your feet on top of the hummocks. Miss one and you're liable to sink up to your armpits.

Why it gets so cold in Minnesota,the waves on some lakes freeze instantly! .....honest! ....I even have a pic to prove it!
