winch cable ??

I'm thinking I want to switch out my cable on my 2500 winch on my 4 wheeler for a strap....is this a big job for someone like me??? can I do it with the winch on the machine, or does it have to be torn apart??? also, do you just buy a strap from anywhere, or is there one made specifically for the winch..... thanks for the info!!

I switched one to a strap,I used a tow strap.

how do you go about installing it??? did you have to take the winch off??

I took one end hook off wrapped it around winch spindle sewed it on.I have to remember to not unwind it all the way to sewn loop end it'll slip.
