VMS
You know what would be interesting....if we actually knew who was calling the plays offensively and through what games.... No doubt that debating this has been good and healthy, and we all love to speculate, but I wonder how people's views (mine included) would change if we knew that one key aspect. fish4cats
Maybe here lies the problem!! No one on the Vikes knows who is actually calling the plays!! That is just it, they have no consistency, now if the Vikes started the season off bad and made improvements throughout the year and got better( which they did mid season) then I would be able to give childress the benefit of the doubt, but to fail so miserably at the end of the season to mediocre teams, just puts the blame more on coaching than execution of the plays. The adjustments just were not made to counter the defense that they were seeing the last 4 weeks of the season. I think we all made some great points here, so I guess we will just have to wait till next year to see how the ball rolls.
Windy City Walleye Hunter
Maybe they are calling their plays in the huddle, like Bill Cosby talks about when he was a kid. "OK I'm the broken piece of glass, you are the bottle cap. Why can't I be the broken glass, it is tougher looking?" OK you are the broken glass, now go down to the old refrigerator and cut left to the car with no doors and I will hit you. Then the fat kid always says, "What about me?" and the answer is...YOU GO LONG! LOLWindy
Hammer Handle
Not all the coach. Not even most of it. I think Childress did great with what he had. He deserves another year or more at least. If he would have spread the offense out and went more to pass the last few games and our QB threw interception (like he would), you would all be screaming "What a dumb call, he should have run!".AP is a great player, but we have another good running back. they both deserve to play. AP has not looked great lately because of the D on him. But, what else does this team have for an offense? We nearly made the playoffs. We did great for the team we had. Childress derserves more time. james_walleye
Who is saying spread the offense and just throw the ball? You can spread the field and still run the same types of plays. I wanted them to spread the field more for the running game. Just a little diverstity is all. Something to make the defense have too think. SF laid down a blueprint on how to use your D-backs to control Peterson and nothing was ever done to counter it through 4 games. Just kept on trying to hammer away in the same old ways that had been working. Our offense minds made it real easy on the defense.
