Problem with Mr Heater Cooker

hitthebricks

Question

The heater lights and works great for about 2-5 min. then it make a loud hissing noise and starts spewing out a flame instead of the controled burn in the screen. This happens when using a 1lb. bottle for fuel. Is this thing toast or is there a fix for this problem? HTB

There is a fix. Either your air intake has some obstruction like spider web or the orifice is dirty. Unscrew the main tube. The area where the air mixture hole is where the orifice is. Its brass. Use a small wire, (thinner then a bread twister) and clean out the orifice. Don't force the wire or you'll make the hole larger.

Ya, what surface said.

This will happen when you put fingers on air intake holes on main tube going up to head of heater. I just read in my new grill's instruction about how spider webs can be a concern in a gas/vapor operated system. I never knew that.

Good luck!
