Plowing snow off grass

I am banking my snow about 4 feet on both sides of my driveway. So I have 4 feet of exposed grass. Will this kill my grass off.Planning ahead, so if we really get dumped on this winter.I don't run out of room for snow.

depending on witch way the wind blows from mostly it would be better if you plow it to the other side of the driveway. If the wind blows from the north most of the time I would try to plow most of it to the south, so it won't keep blowing in deeper.

I used to blow out a large portion of my back yard. It will start out brown when the snow melts in the spring. It'll recover no problem.

Actually, growing up, our yard had a lot of dandilions, and the swath that my dad used to blow out didn't grow the weeds. I thought it was an interesting find.

You risk more damage under the piles than you do by leaving it exposed the entire winter. The last few winters have been very bare with very cold temps. The turf is designed to be winter hardy so there isn't much concern there. COme this spring when everything is melting and you still have a large patch of snow piled up on the lawn, it would be a good idea to break it up and spread it out to help it melt. Leaving it there in a heap on the grass won't kill it, but it will be behind and anything from the driveway such as salt and sand will be deposited there.
