Dragonfisherman
I am wondering how and if I can switch a 6 volt radio that has a wall plug in, to a direct power supply of a 6 volt battery like a lucky duck battery? If so how can it be done? Thanks
0 TimBuck2
Could be a pain. You'd have to find the regulator in the Power supply circuit. If you can figure out where that is, and there are numbers printed on the part you can google that number and usually find a datasheet showing pinout of the part. Then depending on what the output of the regulator is, you can solder the battery connector + to the input if the parts output is less than 6 V, or you can solder it to the output of the regulator if it is at 6V. My guess is it would go on the input. Then solder the battery connector - to Ground on the regulator. Probably not recommended for someone that doesn't have an electronics background, but it's doable. Wear safety glasses the first time you power it up and pray the majic smoke doesn't get let out. I personally would go buy a battery powered radio, and save the hassle.TB2
0 Whoaru99
GE SuperRadio is pretty good. They're a little on the larger size, but not like a boom box. They have great reception, decent sound, and the 6 D-cell batteries last just about forever (also has AC plug for home use).
