mourning doves

I have a question about Doves. I have a bird feeder in my yard and I still have Doves coming into it everyday. Yesterday I counted 10 at one time. I was just wondering why these birds have not migrated yet it seems unusual.

While the vast majority of mourning droves migrate south out of the state, it's not uncommon to find mourning doves in Minnesota winters, particularly toward the central and southern parts of the state. Shelter and food are primary for them, of course, and grain elevators and bird feeding stations are two locations you can sometimes find them.

Last few years we've had a couple mourning doves stick around all winter. haven't seen any at feeder this year.

Saw our first ones of the winter yesterday, 2 or 3.

I had a couple that stuck around last winter, haven't seen any for a while this year. I imagine this cold snap will thin them out a bit and push a few more south.

There has been 3 or 4 of them hanging around my feeders just about everyday. When they are done eating, they sit on the edge of the heated bird bath for long periods of time. They must like the warmth.
