Griggs
Could you be more specific? Are you talking about the matting?
Steve Foss
Kalli, you don't put the frame around the image, you put the image inside the frame. Whether the frame comes already assembled or you buy a kit and assemble it yourself, the vast majority of common frame types follow typical enlargements, such as 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, 16x20. In reality, an 8x10 frame (one ready for an 8x10 print, will show approximately 7.75 by 9.75 inches of the image, because the remainder is hidden by the frame's overhang (called a rabbet joint). So if you buy or order an 8x10 print, it will be 8x10 inches, and if you put it in an 8x10 frame, it should lay in the opening perfectly, and all but a small portion of each of the four edges will be visible. Now, you can buy mats that fit in 8x10 frames but have openings cut to fit 5x7 images. And you can buy mats that fit in 11x14 frames that have openings cut for 8x10 images, and so on and so on up the ladder. On the high end, if you have a print you want matted and framed and it's either a non standard size or something you really want to go to town on, you can bring it to a framing business and they can build a custom frame and cut a custom mat. Lots of money there, however. That was kind of a blanket explanation because, as griggs pointed out, the question was very broad and it's hard to know exactly what you're after. Dbl
I'm going to guess its how to frame the shots displayed here. In which case Steve's thread covers it well.http://www.fishingminnesota.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB79&Number=1130317&Forum=f79&Words=frames&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Main=1130215&Search=true&where=bodysub&Name=&daterange=1&newerval=5&newertype=m&olderval=0&oldertype=m&bodyprev=#Post1130317
Steve Foss
Thanks, Dan. It never even crossed my mind that's what the question might be about.

Moose
There is also a site called webrisizer (you add the rest) that will resize the image, you can add borders, and do some editing also but then you have to download it to your computer and then reload it to flicker to get it to load on the site. If you downlode it to your computer and reload it to webresizer it will let you add another layer for the shadow look around the frame. Heres an image I did there. Steve Foss
Moose, use whatever photo processing program you have to size the original image to 700 pixels across before adding the frame and uploading it to flickr.
