Guest
Hey guys, I recently bought a fish trap guide and I love it but the only problem is, is on some of those windier days I'm a sailboat and I've looked all over for some sort of anchors but I cant find them anywhere. If anyone has any suggestions or comments that would help me with this problem would be great. Good luck fishing to everyone that goes out this weekend and be safe. Thanks, Dan
Guest
Dan, Buy some rope and find some scrap 2 x 4's. Drill one hole on each end of your house and tie a piece of rope on a 2 foot long 2 x 4 and push it down the hole until it is laying beneath the ice. Do the same for the other side of your house. Guaranteed not to go anywhere ------------------Paul[email protected]

frozen toes
I second the rope and board trick. That is what I do, it works. Just make sure you do both corners. The only bad thing is you have to drill that many more holes. Beats getting blown away though.
steve schmidt
One thing that hasn't been mentioned and was a problem with my fish trap is the rope is on the wrong end. Pull the trap into the wind so the flaps cant lift up. I put a rope on the reverse side tying it to the metal framework and havent had a problem since. fishingguy
I have had the same thing happen to me. I took 2 small pcs of 1/4" rope, drilled a 5/16" hole on each side in the lip of the sled. Tied a knot in one end of the rope. Strung it thru the holes I drilled, and tied a loop knot on the other end of the strung rope. I bought 2 6" eye screws at the local hdwe store, screw the eye screws in the ice one on each side of the house, and hook the loop of the rope on them. Not going anywhere any more. irvingdog
How well do those eye holes screw into the ice?
Minnetonka
Last night I saw an otter fish house that had used what looked like the screw devices that you put in your yard and then hook the dog to it. He had one of the screw devices on each side of the sled and had them hooked to the sled with bungee cords. It look like a slick compact way to secure a sled. If someone uses these screw anchers, can you confirm that these are the same type that you get in the pet stores?------------------
Minnetonka
I went to the USL outdoors web site and saw the ice anchors. I believe that this is what I saw the other night. They didn’t list a price, but it can’t be that much for a couple of large screws? I love the simple concept of screwing the ice anchors in (a couple of feet from either end of the sled) and then hooking a bungee cord from the anchors to the sled. It looks simple, quick and compact to store and transport.------------------
