Sportsman's Show

I'm new in town so excuse my ignorance. There's a sportsman's show at the Xcel Center in St. Paul this weekend. Is this a big deal? Does it have a lot of things that would interest a fisherman. More importantly is it worth a 30 mile drive and $7.

Question.....
1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Yes

I go every other year. It can get old if you go EVERY year, but, it is certainly worth the time and money to see it. Especially if you call yourself a fisherman, and you live in Minnesota.

If you can only go to one show I would wait for the Northwest Sports Show at the Mpls Convention Center in March. Overall more to see. If you can go to both the STP show is the same idea on a smaller basis.

If you're new here, it's a "must go". I was very impressed the first time I went. Lots of boats (probably the kind you'll never be able to buy, but...), R.V.'s, camping stuff, etc. But what I found most interesting was the resorts and their pamphlets.
However, once you see one, (as mentioned in other posts), you've seen 'em all. They don't change much...
If you're looking to buy a boat (or something big like that), a good deal can be made because these dealers would rather not ship the stuff back home. Good deals can be had on Sunday...

Well.. the Sportsman show used to be a really great one; but I was disapointed in last years. It revolved more around RV's and recreational boating (Water-skis, etc) than hunting and fishing like it used to. The bass man with the fishing tank wasn't there.. and the only real exhibts for fishing was the vitrual fishing (which was too long of a line to get through), the kids fishing thing (which didn't concern me...), and the trout tank. There were also fewer live exhbits than previous years.
